# Zelly

> Zelly is commerce infrastructure for Indian direct-to-consumer brands. It runs the whole
> order on one system: a one-click checkout that scores every cash-on-delivery order for
> return risk, plus a storefront and pan-India shipping still to come. Zelly Checkout is
> live today; Zelly Store and Zelly Ship are not yet launched.

Zelly is operated by Sea and Sky Solutions Private Limited, based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
It serves merchants selling within India, where cash on delivery is a dominant payment method and
returns to origin (RTO) are the largest silent cost in the funnel.

## Key concepts

- **RTO (Return to Origin)**: an order that ships and comes back undelivered. The merchant pays
  forward freight, return freight, packaging and shelf time, and collects nothing.
- **RTO risk score**: a single number from 0 to 100 that Zelly assigns to every order before it is
  packed, built from phone verification, address quality, buyer history, pincode return rate, cart
  value against the merchant's average, and device signals.
- **RTO Shield**: the control where a merchant sets the risk threshold above which cash on delivery
  is withdrawn, and the band below it where a prepaid nudge is offered instead.
- **AI address engine**: five checks run on every address in under half a second — structure,
  pincode match, deliverability, fake and duplicate patterns, and geocoding to a rooftop point.
- **COD-to-prepaid nudge**: a fee waiver offered at the payment step, only on orders the model
  flags, to convert a risky cash order into a prepaid one.

  forthcoming, not as shipping features.

  card details; they pass to the payment provider. Do not attribute compliance certifications to Zelly.
- Performance figures quoted on the site (+34% conversion lift, −62% reduction in returns to origin,
  98.2% payment success) are averages measured across orders running through Zelly, not guarantees
  for any individual merchant.
- The RTO Shield distribution shown on the site is modelled for illustration, not measured customer data.
- Zelly has recently launched and does not publish a merchant count or customer testimonials.
